MT-1 is a thirteen-residue alpha-MSH analogue with norleucine and D-phenylalanine substitutions that increase both potency and resistance to enzymatic degradation. In receptor assays it shows a preference for MC1R over the other melanocortin subtypes, which is why it is the standard tool compound in melanocyte culture work.
